Rachel (Gen. 28, 29)

When Jacob was a young man, Rebecca said to Isaac, "I do not like a Canaanite woman for Jacob's wife. He should not marry any of them.

So Isaac charged Jacob, his son, "Do not marry any Canaanite woman; go to the house of Bathuel, your mother's father and choose your wife there." Therefore, Jacob went on his journey to his relative's country.

Upon reaching the place he saw a well and three flocks of sheep. Jacob said to the shepherds, "Do you know Laban, the son of Nahor?"

"We do," they said. "Here comes his daughter, Rachel, with his flock."

When Jacob saw Rachel, he rolled the stone from the mouth of the well and watered his uncle'd flock. Then he kissed Rachel. He told her that Rebecca was his mother. So she hastened to tell her father, Laban, who met Jacob and brought him home. Jacob stayed for a month. So Laban said, "You are already with us a month. Tell me what your wages shall be."

Jacob said, :I will serve seven years for your daughter Rachel."

Laban said, "It is better to give her to you than to another man; stay with me."

So Jacob served seven years. They seemed to him but a few days because he loves Rachel. Then Jacob said to Laban, "Give me my wife; seven years are past."

At last Jacob married Rachel.
