The Queen of Saba and Solomon (3 Kgs. 10)

The greatness, wealth and wisdom of Solomon was known far and wide. One day the Queen of Saba said, "I heard many  good things about Solomon. I will pay him a visit to see f they are true. I wonder if he could answer my questions." So she journeyed with her court bringing gifts to Jerusalem. There she was given royal welcome.

The Queen was impressed with what she saw - the beautiful palace, the imposing temple, clean streets, well disciplined soldiers and servants, and rich food. She was impressed with how he judged  the case of the two mothers. She wanted to test his wisdom some more. So she brought out two roses from her bag. one was as beautiful as the other. Then she asked, "King Solomon, which rose is real?"

The king looked at them, smelled them, touched them, and even tasted the petals but he could not tell which of the flowers is real, for sure. Then he opened a window facing his garden. All at once in flew some bees and they alighted on the rose in her right hand. Pointing to it he said, "Tat rose is real."

The Queen was amazed. Then, seeing ants on the balustrade and observing that upon meeting each other they stopped and touched each other, she asked, "What  do they say to each other?"

Solomon answered, "The ants going to the direction of the pantry ask the others: 'Are there more sugar?' The others answer, 'Plenty'." She examined what the ants were carrying and found it was sugar! She asked many more questions which Solomon answered all. When the Queen of Saba was satisfied of the wisdom of Solomon she said, "You are richer, more powerful, and wiser than what I was told. Now, I must go. please accept my gifts."

King Solomon exchanged gifts, thanked her, and bade her safe journey.
